Economics is a pretty good major from a career perspective. Its graduates’ income only trails behind engineering and pharmacy, ahead of all other majors. Those from Hong Kong might find it surprising that economics major faired so well. The answer to that is, this study uses data from U.S., a country where medicine and law require postgraduate study, and where most of the best business schools do not offer undergraduate studies.
Extra: Within Social Sciences, “the major with the lowest median earnings is Sociology, while the highest is Economics.” Poor sociologists, pun intended.
